Here are 7 dietary and lifestyle health tips on reducing your risk of contracting any and all of the lifestyle diseases, and helpful tips on managing and combating them if you already have any of them.

1. Dietary Fats and Oils

Eliminating or reducing fats and oils from your diet. Trimming dietary fats and oils from our diets will go a very long way in helping to increase your chances of avoiding many of those diseases mentioned above. It is important to try to reduce on fried foods as much as possible.

Try to fry foods in its natural oils. Many foods contain natural oils such as chicken and many types of fish, to the extent that one can fry such foods in its own natural oils rather than adding more.

2. Cut Out Fast Food or Junk Food

You need to reduce on eating fast food. Eating food prepared from home by yourself is one way of ensuring you know what you are eating. We all have a responsibility to take care of our own health, and even our children’s health too.

When you eat out, you just do not know how the food has been prepared, how much fats have been added to it, whether or not they have added saturated fats,trans-fats or hydrogenated oils, whether its been over-cooked or not, what kind of cookware the foods have been prepared in, and so on.

While the point of this is not to tell you never eat out, it is important to try to ensure that this is not a lifestyle or everyday habit. The vast majority of the foods you eat should be prepared from home.

3. Plant Based Diet and Daily Intake of Fibre

Eat a high-fibre diet or a plant-based diet. Switching to a high-fibre diet or plant-based diet, and cutting down on red meat also has huge benefits. The benefits include helping to reduce digestive problems, reduce cholesterol problems, helping to control your blood sugar levels, and facilitating weight loss. A high-fibre diet includes vegetables, fruits, anything grown from plants, nuts and whole grains.

4. Cut Down on Daily Intake of Salt

Reduce your intake of salt. Cutting down on Salt will lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.

5. Exercise is Important

Exercise regularly. Exercise is very important too and must be taken seriously.

A sedentary lifestyle is likely to increase the chances of contracting health problems and diseases. Cardio exercises and jogging are good forms of all-round exercise that help to reduce the risks of diseases and help to facilitate a healthy heart.

6. Drink Water

Drink plenty of water. Our bodies need water to function properly. Water flushes the system. I use a drinking bottle of 1 litre each, and focus on drinking two of it a day. So that helps me to measure what I am drinking. That way I am not unknowingly drinking less.

7. Use Health Conscious Cookware

Try to use “healthy cookware” that allows for cooking with no oil or very little oil. In many cases, an oil spray such as the one-calorie spray can be substituted for fats and oil use where needed in healthy cookware. Cutting out oil from your diet with help in reducing the risk of high cholesterol, obesity and other related lifestyle diseases.
